My mum had my sister when she was 15. They were separated and reunited when my sister was a teenager. They have never been close partly due to the fact that my mum wont tell my sister who her father is and partly because my sister was bought up differently to how my mum would have bought her up and how I was bought up and my mum doesn't approve of my sisters life. My sister now has 3 kids all over 15 and I have just had my first. My mum has acted as though mine is her first grandchild. She gets excited when she sees him, to the point that she kept forgetting to say hi to me or my partner before whisking my baby away. My sisters kid who my mother hadn't seen for a year was holding my baby and my mother just walked in and took the baby and didn't say a word to my sisters kid. She is constantly taking away from my experience as a first time mum by trying to be the first person that sees my baby do something new or telling me I'm wrong about something my baby does or doesn't like or do. In comparison to this, she doesn't know how to spell my sisters kids name, has to be reminded of their birthdays including my sisters birthday, bitches to me about my sister and her kids (and my Dad and his other kids) and calls my sister the day after her birthday despite the fact that I reminded her the day before. We spent mothers day with my sister, me and my sisters kids and mum sulked the entire time. I love my sister and love talking to her but constantly have to censor myself so I don't hurt her feelings. My mother hates my dads other kids because she is jealous of them and the time they spend with my Dad. They don't like to come to her house to see Dad cos she's so rude to them so they go out. This makes Mum upset at Dad for going out with his own kids. Shouldn't she just be happy dad gets to see them? No because she has no friends or hobbies and gets angry and moody if dad ever goes anywhere without her. They go away plenty by themselves but "how dare he leave her at home alone!?" GET A HOBBY!! When she babysits for me, she complains about having to look after her dog as well and whinges about how tiring it is to look after a baby but then constantly tells me my house is a mess, that I don't eat properly and that I'm fat. I know a lot of people might say I should be appreciative of my mother and be thankful I even have one but why can't my mum be nice and motherly?
