Ok ok ok, I'm all for respecting your own parents and all the rest. but over the years my mother and I have drifted quite far apart. I left home at 15 and it was always a strained realtionship from there, add to that my moving interstate on my own and your asking for trouble. When I was expecting my first child, I asked her if she'd come down around when I was due, to be there when her first grandchild arrived... sorry, I have classes. Then I asked her to attend my wedding.. 'oh, I can't really afford to come down and pay for accomodation etc etc" So the only reason she came to my wedding is because I paid for the trip and put her and her new hubby up in a hotel. But i wanted her there, so I didnt mind. I also didnt mind sending her a $200 cheque every week when her and hubby were out of work and strapped for cash. Bear in mind I was only 19. I never asked for it back and I wouldnt, but when my marriage failed and he tried to kill me, do you think she returned the assistance so I could feed and house my son?? Over the yrs it has gone on and on, but this latest one is the clincher. 2 yrs ago when I had my lil girl, I mentioned to my mum that we wanted to buy my son an xbox or playstation or something for xmas, and she said seeing as how my youngest brother had one of each and a game boy and his own computer, she would ask him if we could have the xbox - to which he, at age 12, happily agreed. Now, just this week, she rings me from NZ, saying can he have the xbox back? no explaination, no offer to even pay postage and I was in so much shock that i think i mumbled yeah ok.. Now, my lil bro is 14, my son is 6. Surely my mother when discussing this with my brother should have said to him that the xbox was given as a xmas gift and a 6 yr old boy wont understand him wanting it back. at 14 I expect my brother to understand the term Indian Giving.. But my mother instead of maybe buying a second hand one on ebay, has now put me in a position of forking out for postage of this heavy box to NZ, and then paying to replace it so my son doesnt get upset and confused.. I find her continued selfishness incredulous...!!!!!
